What does Good Leadership in Construction look like today?

Between the uncertainty created by the virus over the past few years, in combination with the pandemic’s effect of a reduced workforce and supply chain delays, the construction industry has found itself under intense pressure.

This pressure has affected employee engagement – seeing high levels of fatigue and job dissatisfaction – and consequently creating significant mental health implications across the construction workforce.

Facing another uphill battle to support employees through this, the sector can find implementing workplace wellness programs to be a challenge because geographically spread workforces rarely find themselves in one place.

But as safety is made the highest priority for employees on-site, a holistic approach to safety needs to be applied even when staff leave home to consider their mental health.

Daily check-ins and celebrating the small wins are one way to ensure employees are not consumed by waiting for long-term successes.
